— Dementia care

Dementia care in a home, not a unit

Loving Hands is licensed by the California Department of Social Services to care for residents with dementia. With six residents and awake staff around the clock, the people caring for your parent know them well.

Why a small home helps

Familiar faces, a familiar day

People living with dementia often do best with familiar faces, a predictable day and a calm setting. In a six-resident home, the same small team works consistent shifts, so staff learn each resident's routines, preferences and the signs that a day is going badly.

Changes in mood, appetite or sleep get noticed early, because someone on shift already knows what normal looks like for your parent.

Daily care

Help with daily life, at your parent's pace

Staff help with bathing, dressing, meals, medications and getting around the house, and coordinate with your parent's own doctors. A trained staff member is awake and on site every hour of every day.

The day follows the resident's rhythm rather than a building schedule. Late breakfast, a walk in the garden, music on Wednesdays: routines that feel like their own are part of the care.

Common Questions

What families ask us

Is Loving Hands licensed for dementia care?

Yes. Our CDSS license, facility number 198603969, lists dementia among the client groups we're approved to serve. You can look up the license on the state's Care Facility Search.

What happens if walking gets harder?

Our license approves care for six non-ambulatory residents and one bedridden resident, so a resident doesn't have to move out when mobility changes.

And later, if hospice is needed?

We hold a hospice waiver for all six residents. Your parent can receive hospice care here, in the home they know. See our hospice page.

How do we get started?

Call or book a free 45-minute visit. We'll talk about your parent first, then walk through the state's pre-admission appraisal (LIC 603) and physician's report (LIC 602A) together.

No question is too early.

You don't need a decision made before you call. Tell us a little about your parent and where you are in the process. A free 45-minute visit is the fastest way to know whether we're the right fit.
